A witness giving oral evidence may with the permission of the court-
----(a) amplify the evidence as set out in his witness statementif that statement has disclosed the substance of the evidence which he is asked to amplify; or
----(b) give evidence in relation to new matters which have arisen since the witness statement was served on the other parties and which could not reasonably have been contained in a supplemental witness statement.
