This emblem was designed by an ethnic Yao designer. It shows a Yao Long Drum. Yao's long drum culture has a long history. According to legend, Yao people's ancestor, Pankua, was bumped by an antelope during hunting. He fell down in a valley to death. His descendants then made long drums, using skin of antelope as drum face and tung wood as drum body, to commemorate King Pankua. Playing long drums during the festival of Dancing to King Pankua has become an important traditional cultural activity of Yao people. More than 2/3 of Yao people are using long drums now.
