This emblem was designed by an ethnic Naxi Chinese designer. The Dongba ancient character is an important carrier of Naxi ancient culture. It is known as the "unique living hieroglyph". The woolen tippet used by Naxi women is embroidered with sun, moon, and seven-stars. Naxi people call it "cloaked by stars and wearing the moon", which symbolizes felicity.

Dapo Maji (达坡玛吉), a well-known ethnic Nakhi Chinese singer. She won a silver medal (Aboriginal/Natural Style) on the National Youth Singing Contest in 2008.
The Nakhi are traditionally followers of the Dongba religion. The most famous Dongba painting is the Painting of Sacred Road to Heaven which is approximately 14 meters long and 0.26 meters wide. This painting tells the story of how the dying man's soul is released from suffering. The above painting illustrates Sayee Welden, the principle deity of the Dongba religion.
