Ethnic Gaoshan Chinese 高山族

This emblem was designed by an ethnic Gaoshan Chinese designer. According to legend in South Taiwan, the Paiwan people (a subgroup of ethnic Gaoshan Chinese) are descendants of the sun. One day, the God of Sun sent his son, who was in a shape of egg and was protected by a One-Hundred-Step Snake, to the mountained area of South Taiwan (Note: "One-Hundred-Step Snake" in Chinese means that when one is bited by this snake, then he cannot walk a hundred steps alive). Later men and women were born from the egg. They were ancestors of the Paiwan people. The Paiwan people use many ways to worship the One-Hundred-Step Snake, which protected their ancestors.

在台湾南部，民间传说排湾人是太阳之子。有一天太阳神将一蛋形太阳之子下凡台湾南部山间，并派百步蛇守护。不久从蛋中破壳生出人类，即是排湾人的祖先。排湾人用多种方式纪念百步蛇之功。
