Removal of London Plane Trees

You may have noticed 8 London Plane Trees have bee marked (see photo attached) for removal by AEP sometime soon. The HOA and the City of Delaware think it is best to remove these trees for a few reasons. 1) Six trees and their shallow roots closest to the walking/bike path (HOA must maintain the path) are pushing up/cracking the asphalt and causing tripping hazards on the path. 2) AEP was scheduled to come out and cut about half of the each upper portion of the eight trees away from the power lines (AEP requires 15 foot clearance). The HOA will replace the same number of (and possibly same type) of trees on the other side of the fence or in another part of our common areas. AEP will remove all brush and cut trunk and branches up in firewood size pieces, but they will not take them. When you see this has been completed, please help yourself to the firewood. The HOA will remove stumps.
