My Studio is both work space and sanctuary...it is one of my favorite places to spend time.
I've always wanted a light filled place to be as creative and messy as I want to be...now I have it. My Studio is divided into separate areas.
The area with the wicker chairs is where I peruse books and magazines and get the creative juices flowing.
I have an adjustable drafting table with a magnifying light. My husband and I made the desk from a metal base I found in a flea market and a cut down door for the top.
The print is called "The Bookworm". It belonged to my mother and was one of her favorites. The blue bust and decorative brackets were Thrift Shop finds.
The old Lawyer's bookcase belonged to my grandmother. The large basket next to it holds rolls of paper. The closet behind it terrific. It is huge and holds all the supplies I need.
This is just one part of the closet. Later (if the house is sold) it could be converted back to a regular closet and my Studio could be made into one or two bedrooms.
My husband and I built the screen from some bi-fold doors and I painted it to mimic an old iron gate. It partially conceals the messiest area.
In the messy area, the flooring is linoleum so that spills can be cleaned up. Adjustable halogen track lights shine directly on my current project.
The table is where I do the really messy stuff. I have several large metal easels and usually work on several paintings at a time.
Against the wall is a light table and base cabinets with drawers.
A small bookcase holds my acrylic paints.
On top of a lawyer's bookcase are some of the original art I did for Beverly Van Hook's books.
