Most of my designs are inspired by the colors and the endless variation in size, shape, and texture of the beads available on the market today. Some beads demand to be arranged in neat symmetrical order while others scream for randomness. I try to let the beads lead me. Bold type indicates that Information can be found on the Information Page.
The large focal stones are Jasper and the other colored stones are chips of Turquoise, Aquamarine, Amazonite, Quartz, Lemon Quartz, Smoky Quartz, Rose Quartz, Adventurine, Citrine, and Moonstone. The large faceted beads are agate. The Metal beads are Bali Style Pewter. I wired a row of rectangular silver toned beads around the focal stone on the necklace.
Necklace, stretch bracelet, and earrings all feature Raw Amber combined with Adventurine. Gold tone beads and finding add a bit of sparkle to this unconventional creation.
Simple stretch bracelet made of Copper beads that practically begged to be adorned with a single Jade bead bookended by two gold toned beads. The jade is a lovely Celadon. The earrings have Glass beads in colors that match or compliment the jade bead in the bracelet.
Spiral Bracelet and earring are made of some very special stones. The small round beads are Pyrope Garnet and the larger round and oval beads are Fire Agate. Pearls by Swarovski are the best quality man made ones I could find and cube shaped Agate and silver tone metal beads complete the look.
Left - I adorned shinny Copper chandelier earring findings with Iridescent Glass and shinny copper beads.
Right - I used a combination of Iridescent Glass, filigree Copper, and Abalone beads to create this look.
Spiral frog bracelet features a variety of Lampwork Beads. There are oval Swirl and Confetti Beads. A Creature Bead in the shape of a frog is also the creation of a lampwork artist. Rectangular Millefiori Beads are another handmade addition. Round black, and cube shaped light green Ceramic Beads vie with White Jade Beads and Iridescent Glass Beads for your attention. Silver tone textured beads finish off the piece.
Spiral Bracelet made up of a variety of beads including Agate, Cognac Amber, Blue Turquoise, Carved Bone, and antique Brass Beads.
This suite is special because it features the semi-precious stone, Larimar. Larimar looks like a blue sky with puffy white clouds...so pretty. Most of the findings and chains are Vintaj Brass. The company has created a large assortment of interesting shaped findings. I used large flower-like Flourish Petal Bead Caps on the necklace and the earrings and smaller Foliage Bead Caps on the earrings and chunky bracelet. Small Czech Glass Crystals add a bit of sparkle everywhere.
This necklace and lever-back earrings are made of Ruby Zoisite and Green Jade Beads. Yes, there is real ruby naturally mixed in with the greenish Zoisite base stone. The contrast of the red and green gives this highly polished, faceted stone its lively appearance. I thought it looked juicy and almost good enough to eat. This project was made as a gift for a friend.
This set is made from Crazy Horse Magnesite beads with blue-gray crystals, copper beads, and silver toned beads. I discovered Wild Horse Magnesite in 2016 when I got a pair of earring at Crystal Bridges Museum. I went on line to buy some beads to make jewelry to go with the earrings. I was shocked at the high cost of Wild Horse beads and Crazy Horse beads. These were close but did not exactly match my earrings. I liked them anyway and went ahead and made this set. I'm still searching for some reasonably priced Wild Horse beads that match the earrings.
The Pendant and earrings on the right go together. They are made with a pale Lavender Jade sun bead and two larger pale Lavender Jade round beads. The French Wires are Sterling Silver as are the small beads. The darker purple beads are Amethyst and the clear beads are Crystal. The silver tone metal parts of the earrings in the lower left were purchased and I added some deeper Lavender Jade beads.
This suite was made as a gift for my sister who loves the color yellow and butterflies. She also wear jeans a lot so I decided Sodalite, which goes perfectly with denim, would be a good jumping off point. I used Sodalite round and square beads, Vintaj Brass Butterflies, yellow and white Glass Beads, and Brass filigree beads to complete the ensemble.
This simple yet stylish suite was a gift for a friend. The necklace features large oval cabochons of Agate which she picked at a bead store. I combined her chosen beads with smaller Crazy Lace Agate beads as spacers. The heart shaped gold-tone earrings with dangling Crazy Lace Agates and the Crazy Lace Agate bracelet with gold-tone metal and Crazy Lace Agate charms continue the neutral theme.
This striking suite was a gift for a friend. At a bead store, she picked the flat round fancy (almost pinwheel-shaped) gray-purple Agate beads and the rectangular Agate pendant. I added Purple Turquoise beads and Iridescent Glass and smaller Iridescent Crystal beads as spacers. A silver-toned fancy bail and other silver-toned metal findings complete the scheme.
Another gift for a friend. She picked the largest silver-toned filigree butterfly and some of the small Crystal Beads in various shapes at a bead store. I created this three tired necklace by adding another similar but smaller butterfly, chain, black Glass Beads, large silver-toned beads of different shapes, and additional Crystals Beads. The asymmetrical necklace is designed to be worn with the butterflies at different levels. The lever-back earrings and bracelet tie in through the use of more butterflies, smaller black Glass Beads, and Crystals for bling. Lady Marilyn says, "You can never have too much BLING".
This suite features Amazonite. I bought a small parcel from Jewelry TV. It comes in a variety of shades depending on the area of the world where it was mined. The Amazonite in this suite ranges in color from dark greenish-blue Russia Nuggets to pale almost white Chinese Beads and chips. The long gold color tube findings were scavenged from a thrift store necklace. The earrings have gold toned lever-backs.
I had a "Turquoise Day" and made all of the above turquoise pieces with turquoise from a parcel I purchased on JTV. The necklace is nuggets of turquoise with ribbed crimp covers, chain and a lobster claw clasp. One pair is earrings are a "line" style and are over 3" long. The other earrings started life as a pendant with tiny green and blue dangles. I took it apart, added lever-back ear wires, and substituted small turquoise nuggets. The center pendant features the oddest pieces of turquoise in the parcel. They look like matrix with bubbles of turquoise in a brown matrix which I've not seen before.
This necklace and lever-back earrings are made of highly polished, faceted Chalcedony beads. Chalcedony is a demure crystal, subtle and mystic, cool and serene, ethereal yet solid. It has an inviting, soft translucence, and an almost imperceptible movement within the stone. If it is banded, it's called agate. I was attracted by the soft mix of colors and purchased two strands in two different sizes. I used bead caps and silver-toned beads and flower spacers along with diamond cut metal rings to complete the look.
