Kennack Sands

Carpebble-logo

The Lizard Complex is believed to be an ophiolite, formed when a Devonian back-arc-basin was obducted during the Variscan Orogeny. At Kennack Sands, there is serpentine, the Kennack Gneiss, gabbro and basalt dykes. We visit with L6 AS geology students and seek to determine the relative ages of the various rocks using cross-cutting relationships.
