Cornell Notes:
In fifth grade, all students take notes for information covered in class. All teachers expect the students to use a specific format call Cornell Two Column Notes. This format is useful because it allows you to fold questions and terms on the left side away from the answers and definitions on the right side of the paper. This devise is very helpful when reviewing/studying the notes you have taken.
Each piece of information has a place in your notes. The top left corner includes the topic of your notes. The top right side of you paper has all identifying information. The left column is used for writing questions or terms. The right column is used for writing answers to questions or definitions. The final column at the bottom of your notes is a section called Summary. In this part, students write a brief synopsis of what they learned from their notes.
An additional third column can be added to your notes and your teacher will show you how to do this.
