Kindness Action Team (K.A.T.) Spreads Holiday Cheer

During our recent winter break, on Tuesday, December 22, students from Bret Harte's Kindness Action Team (KAT) visited the Child Life program at UC Davis' MIND Institute, to deliver toys, books, art supplies, and handmade cards for patients who would be spending the holidays in the Children's Hospital. KAT students raised $170.50 by selling snacks at their "Inside Out" movie night on December 11, and used all funds to purchase a total of 190 items to donate. Through their participation in KAT, students are getting hands on experience in social awareness, relationship skills and problem solving, three of the five Social & Emotional Learning competencies.
