Black History Month program Educates, Honors

On Thursday, February 28, 2013, students, families and staff gathered in the multipurpose room at Bret Harte for a very special celebration of Black History in the United States. Coordinated by school librarian Ms. Davis, students began learning and rehearsing songs, dances and speeches featuring traditional African culture and highlighting many contributions by a myriad of both famous and lesser-known African American heroes. Ms. Davis and her student volunteers worked tirelessly on the program, meeting each week since the beginning of October. The result was a beautiful acknowledgment and appreciation of Black History. A very, very special thank you to Ms. Davis for all her hard work!
