If you are interested in receiving Dual Credit for Statistics at the UI next semester (Spring 2016), I have attached below their letter regarding the procedure for enrollment during Semester 2. I will be going over this in class soon but if you have any questions about this, please see me.
Please note, if you have NOT enrolled at the UI in the past , you MUST apply for admission online by March 4, 2015. This does not mean that you must enroll but you must apply to be eligible to enroll. If you have enrolled in a Dual Credit course in the past, you do not need to apply again. You are in their system.
---------
DEAR DUAL CREDIT PARTNERS,
The following information will assist you with preparations for spring 2016 dual credit registration. Please read it completely, share it as needed, and let us know if you have any questions.
FINANCIAL AID & PAYMENT
Ø Tina Polishchuk, SDE Coordinator of Advanced Opportunities, sent an email out earlier today that included an updated User’s Manual. I’ve attached the email along with a copy of the manual in the event you did not receive it. Please note that recommended deadlines for student funding requests are outlined on page 6.
Ø Students who are not using Advanced Opportunities/Fast Forward funds for spring courses should include full payment with their registration in the form of a Check or Money Order, or use the Credit Card Payment Form available on the Dual Credit website. NO CASH PLEASE.
Ø Students who have not taken dual credit classes through the University of Idaho in the past must first be admitted to the University.
o Apply for admission by going to the Dual Credit website, clicking on the Admission link, and following the instructions. READ THE TIPS FIRST.
o Students will receive an acceptance letter with important account ID information. Remind them to KEEP THIS LETTER for future reference and add their UI student ID number to the Dual Credit Registration form once they are admitted.
Ø Students who have taken dual credit classes through the University of Idaho in the past may simply write their UI student ID number on their Dual Credit Registration form. If they can’t remember it, they may leave the field blank.
Ø Go to the Dual Credit website, click on the Registration link, and print the two-page document. The first page contains instructions; the second page is the registration form.
Ø Direct students to complete the Student Information section of the form and assist them with the Class Information section. Refer to the Courses link on the Dual Credit website. Class information is located under Courses in High Schools and is listed alphabetically by high school in the Spring 2016 list. PLEASE TELL STUDENTS TO WRITE LEGIBLY and NOT USE PENCIL.
Ø Make sure students sign the form and get a parent/guardian signature, which is required regardless of student age.
SUBMISSION
Ø All Dual Credit Registration forms should be returned to the high school counselor for final review and signature. Counselors may then batch and submit the forms in one mailing to:
University of Idaho
Office of the Registrar
875 Perimeter Drive MS 4260
Moscow, ID 83844-4260
ALL ADMISSION, REGISTRATION, FINANCIAL AID APPROVAL or PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE (i.e., NOT postmarked by the deadline).
Ø Allow ample time for the Registrar’s Office to email the designated High School Dual Credit contact(s) if any registration problems are encountered.
Ø The contact is responsible for working with the student(s) to resolve the problems by the deadline indicated in the email.
Ø Please make sure the UI Dual Credit Office has current contact information.
FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT OF 1974 (FERPA)
Remember that students’ educational information (i.e., academic and financial) cannot be discussed with parents without the student’s signed consent due to federal regulations (i.e., FERPA).
Students who want their parents to be able to discuss this information with university personnel must complete and submit a Consent to Release Student Information form, which is located on the Dual Credit website under the Parents link at the bottom of the page.
Submit this form with their registration form.
SOME HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS:
Ø Print out a copy of the DATES AND DEADLINES located on the Dual Credit website so you may refer to them as you assist your students.
Ø Go to Courses à Courses in High Schools à Spring 2016 and let us know ASAP if you find any errors in the courses listed for your high school.
Ø DO NOT wait until the posted deadline! Develop internal deadlines that will help you help your students apply for Advanced Opportunity Funding, apply for admission to the UI (if applicable), and complete/review/submit registration forms BEFORE the posted deadline. In turn, this will give the Registrar’s Office the opportunity to identify any registration problems and you some time to address them before a petition is required.
Ø Check your dual credit CLASS ROSTERS in Vandal Web within a week of submitting your students’ registration forms.
o Go to the Dual Credit website à click on the High School Teachers link à select Vandal Web Help in the Contents box.
o Let us know if you have any problems.
Happy New Year to you all!
Best Regards,
