The Day That Bollington Has its Folk Night

Today's the day that Bollington has its Folk Night by Phil Poyser (2013)

(with apologies to “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic”)

If you go out with Pete Wood today, you’re in for a big surprise.
If you go down to the “D. and P.”, you’ll meet lots of gals and guys.
For any folk song that ever there was, can be heard there for certain because
Today’s the day that Bollington has its folk night.

Folk night time for Bolly folk,
the Bolly folk singers are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, hear them play upstairs
and they’ll folk sing in every way.
See them gaily glance about.
They love to play and shout and never have any cares.
At eleven o’clock Pete Wood and his chummies will scamper off home to bed
because they’re tired Bolly folk sing-ers.

If you go out with Pete Wood and me, you won’t hear a brass trombone
It’s lovely down at the “D. and P.”, but turn off your mobile ’phone.
For any folk song that ever there was can be heard there for certain because
Today’s the day that Bollington has its folk night.

CHORUS

Every folk singer (they’ve all been good) has given us a treat today.
There’s a prize of wonderful wine to win - it’s Rosemary you have to pay.
Beside the fire that Pete stokes higher, they’ll strum and wheeze and play songs in threes.
Today’s the day that Bollington has its folk night.

CHORUS
