The Big 4+ Sportsman’s Club held their annual membership picnic at their clubhouse in Long Lake on Saturday, July 20. Over 100 people turned out to enjoy a day of trap shooting, raffles and good food. We were blessed with a break in the weather as the humid heat wave ended and we had a nice, sunny day in the low 70's.

Winners of the Big 4+’s annual raffle were drawn at 4 PM. Dan Graham (Alvin) won the first prize, a Ruger American bolt .270 Win rifle. Debbie Nieminen (Iron River) won second prize, 2 face cord of fire wood donated by Ed Borske (Alvin). Tom Prevost (DePere) won third prize, a Stackhouse portable hunting blind. Winners of the bag raffles are too numerous to mention, but needless to say, dozens and dozens of items donated by area businesses were raffled off to their appreciative winners.

The 50-Bird Lewis Class trap shoot had 90 entries this year and paid out 5 classes, with each class winning $126. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The winners and their scores were: Dusty Rhoades (Green Bay) with the only 50 of the day, Curt Riege (Watertown) with 47, Buddy Schaut (Mountain) with 45, Kayla McHugh (Newald) with 43 and Sue Bolyard (Kenosha) with 40. Lewis class shooters could also play options, which paid $124 each this year. Ties were broken by sudden-death shoot offs. The winners were Corey Soldner (Reedsville) with 25-straight on Trap 1, Curt Riege with 25-straight on Trap 2 and Dusty Rhoades who won both High Gun and Long Run with his 50. The consolation prize of $90 was won by Dave Dorzok (Kiel). In the meat shoots, numerous steaks and bacon were shot for with many of the contests resulting in spirited shoot offs.

The Big 4+ extends its thanks to all who helped make this year’s picnic a success. A special thanks goes to the volunteer workers and also the businesses who donated prizes and helped to sell raffle tickets.
