New Album Release!
"A la recherche du temps perdu" performed by pianist Michael Hauber, Germany.
"Time" is the main theme of this series, inspired by the amazing book "In search of the lost time" by Marcel Proust. We live in "fast times", we are "stressed", and we all are longing for the "temps perdu", when life was slower, more down tempo. So the pieces in this series, called after the chapter titles of Proust´s book, are very slow, very accentuated, very expressive.

Des deux côtés du Rhin (The two sides of the Rhine river)
I have composed this piece together with my friend and great piano composer, Sylvain Guinet, who is from France and has a very romantic composing style as well. So we composed short parts each and "answered" with another part (indicated in the score with SB and SG). This makes this piece kind of unique, a mixture of romantic french and german composing styles.

January 2014 - Happy new year 2014 to you all!
...I thought the best way to start into the new year might be a "pianist" challenge :-)
"La grande Petitesse et ses filles" (playtime about 8-12 minutes) consists of 8 miniatures in F sharp minor (the "daughter" pieces, called "Petitesses"), that could also be played separately. Parts of "La grande Petitesse" are very challenging, so I would expect that even an advanced pianist may need some time to practice it. As with all my scores, there are no markings. So you have all pianistical freedom to create your own, individual interpretation.
The direct link to the "Petitesse" booklet is here:
As a little incentive for the pianists, who need to invest some valuable time, they will receive a small donation, dependant on the time stamp of an email sent to stephanbeneking@netscape.net with a downloadable recording of "La grande Petitesse":
1st recording: 50 USD (40 Euro)
2nd recording: 30 USD (24 Euro)
3rd recording: 20 USD (16 Euro)
the following 5 recordings: 10 USD (8 Euro)
Pianists with acoustic pianos will be given a head start of 3 weeks, as they don´t have the possibility of MIDI-adjustments...
Hope you enjoy playing the "Petitesse" - and good luck!

New album "The Swans" - 12 Valses Melancoliques
The great success of my first series "Valses melancoliques" encouraged me to continue this musical idea of melancholic valses, resulting in 12 new valses from C minor to B minor. Now I am more than happy to announce that the brilliant pianist Danaë Xanthe Vlasse from Los Angeles / USA has recorded the whole series! Danaë performs these works in a masterful way, bringing interpretive variety to each waltz such that each piece portrays distinct character, and all are a delight to hear!
This album is available on iTunes, AmazonMP3, Spotify and many other platforms.
November 2013
This is for piano "aficionados" and "connaisseurs" only: "Miniatures for giants"5 pure piano miniatures composed specifically for the biggest and probably best piano on the world - the Klavins 370i Model, called "The Giant" (see picture). The piano is 3,70 m high and has nearly the double soundboard compared to other grand pianos.
When I met David Klavins a while ago in Berlin, the idea arose to compose pieces, that take into account the advantages of the Giant´s sound, which is more clearness and saturation especially in the very low and very high regions of the keyboard.
Pianist Carlos Márquez created impressive recordings of the works, which were then transformed into the 370i Model sound via the Giant VST of Native-Instruments. The WAV files are for free download. Listening with headphones is highly recommended!
More Information about David Klavins and his amazing pianos here:

here is ny - 9/11 - take part in "crowdpiano" open remembrance collaboration
This is a global musical remembrance project as a tribute to the thousands of innocent people who died on 9/11 and the many thousands that died thereafter. The idea is to create step by step a collection of musical statements by "artists against terror" and to give everybody the chance to express his/her individual tribute - simply by playing this relatively easy piece on the piano or by arranging it with other instruments.

New compositional series: Zita in Wonderland - 24 pieces for children and beginners
For a long time already I had intended to write some piano pieces for children and beginners. My aim was to create original works, that are relatively easy to play but nevertheless interesting and challenging modern classical music in "pure piano Beneking-Style". Now the 24 miniatures are finished, and I hope that many people will enjoy them!
All pianists, teachers and piano schools can use it without any cost!
Please feel free to copy and share this booklet!
Also I am welcoming all recordings -especially from children and beginners- and would offer to upload them onto my SoundCloud page and/or YouTube channel:

Release of a new compositional series and charity album "Holocaust Remembrance Suite"
This Suite for solo piano is an unique remembrance project, which has grown out of a collaboration with pianist Hal Freedman from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Hal Freedman has been a solo recitalist at colleges, universities and various venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia. He is also a well-known piano teacher and respected recording artist. halfreedmanpianist.com/
The innocence and beauty of pure piano classical music poses a stark contrast to the horrors of the Third Reich and the Holocaust.
Each piece in the Holocaust Remembrance Suite contains a vital message about the war crimes and atrocities of the past. Unfortunately, the message is applicable to conditons that persist in our world today. It is our sincere hope to raise social awareness of these problems through this important project.

new Booklet 12 Valkyries - a series of 12 works in minor tonality, ranging from C minor to B minor
Inspired by the mystic "Valkyrie" figures:
In Norse mythology, a valkyrie (from Old Norse valkyrja "chooser of the slain") is one of a host of female figures who decide which soldiers die in battle and which live. Selecting among half of those who die in battle (the other half go to the goddess Freyja's afterlife field Fólkvangr), the valkyries bring their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin. There, the deceased warriors become einherjar. When the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead. Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans or horses.
