Restoration of the 3rd temple in Jerusalem

(Dan 9:27) Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation,

which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate."(Dan 12:11) "And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Daniel 9 mentions the existence of animal sacrifices in Israel during the seven year tribulation period. There are no hints as to when the sacrifices begin, however. In order for sacrifices to be done, there must be a temple. We can only speculate that they could be very soon. In Matthew 24, Jesus speaks of the generation which will see the new temple and the tribulation. The old temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. by the Romans. There have been reports out of Israel of preparations for the rebuilding of the temple.

The rebuilding of Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem's Old City has been so important to Jews that they have prayed for it for centuries and they end each wedding with the breaking of a glass to remind participants of the Temple's destruction.

The first step, says Chaim Richman of the Temple Institute, is replication down to the precise detail of Temple objects, half of which have now been made. In addition, a Mississippi cattle farmer has agreed to provide special unblemished red heifers, the ashes of which are required for a purification ritual.

Rabbi Nahman Kahane of the Old City has created a database of all Jews descended from Aaron, the priestly brother of Moses. They will be called into service if the Temple is rebuilt.

Richman says he is not messianic: ``[We hope] the Temple will be again the spiritual center of all mankind.'' U.S.NEWS & WORLD REPORT, DECEMBER 19, 1994

The temple will be the spiritual center for all mankind and the the Antichrist knows this. That is why he will desicrate the new temple by proclaiming himself to be a god in the Holy of holies.

(Dan 9:27) Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate."

"Two Talmudic schools located near the Western (Wailing) Wall are teaching nearly two hundred students the elaborate details to Temple service. Other groups are researching the family lines of Jewish priests who alone may conduct sacrifices."(Time Magazine, October 16, 1989)

There are now several similar organizations preparing for the new temple.

The people of Israel still practice Judaism. They still live through the statutes of the Old Testament. A prerequisite to the forgiveness of sins was animal sacrifices. How are their sins forgiven today? Technically, a practicing Jew would naturally be looking forward to the day when he can again seek atonement for his sins through animal sacrifice. In the next few years, watch for first the rebuilding of the temple and then the sacrificing of animals once again.
