45 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK

5 September 1981-at the start of what would be the last season for the Old Eagles, the lowest recorded attendance at the Eyrie for a FA Cup tie, 231,  sees the Eagles beat Hoddesdon 4-0 in the Preliminary Round. It was the start of a run to the 1st round proper which ended in defeat by Wimbledon.
