Local Hotels:
For those coming by train there is a Premier Inn and a Hotel Ibis very close to the Railway station and about a 15 minute walk from the University. The YMCA is also close by the Railway station.
For those wanting something slightly closer and slightly more upmarket there is the Belmont Hotel on DeMontfort Street, this is barely a 5 minute walk from the University and has some off road parking.
Slightly further from the University but pretty much in the City centre and slightly more upmarket from the Premier and Ibis is the old Midland hotel now the Mercure, it does have its own carpark but parking is somewhat limited. This would be about a 20 minute or so brisk walk to the Department.
There are a wide range of Hotels from various chains at Fosse Park about a 20 minute drive away (depending on time of day and traffic) with plenty of parking, including Marriott, Hilton, Travel Lodge and Ramada.
Closer to the University are some small independant hotels and B&B's along London Road in the Stoneygate area.
Travel directions and maps: The postcode for satnav is LE1 7RH
Please use the excellent maps and travel information on the University website.
Please note that NO parking is available on Campus, follow this link for parkinginformation. Click Menu (top right) and select Parking locations, the recommended Victoria Park car park is the P on the far right.
The best recommendation is the Pay & Display (up to 12 hour stay is £4) car park on Victoria Park alongside Granville Road, the entrance is just before it joins Regent Road on the corner by the entrance to DeMontfort Hall (see the University of Leicester Campus Map from the link above).
This is then a short but pleasant walk past the DeMontfort Hall to the War Memorial (large Arc d’Triomphe structure), then down Peace Walk to University Road, turn left along University Road and enter the University Campus via Mayor’s Walk then follow the joining instructions above.
