That tricky little word: Get

The word “get” and its past tense “got” is used a lot in English and can have many meanings.
Its used instead of other more descriptive verbs
Here are some examples....
When we obtain something:
I always get 2 coffees every morning. (“get” used instead of “buy”)
I got a bike for my birthday. (“got” used instead of “was given”)
When something effects us:
I get tired after riding my bicycle. (“get” used instead of “feel”)
I got sick during the cold weather. (“got” used instead of “became”)
When we understand something
I get you. (“get” used instead of “understand”)
Examples of opposite meanings
When we arrive somewhere:
She got in after midnight. (“got in” used instead of “arrived”)
He usually gets to work late. (“gets to” used instead of “arrives at”)
The opposite of arrive: When we leave somewhere:
They got away at 10pm. (“got away” used instead of “left”)
When we want to harm someone:
