Due has several meanings in English.
Here are the two most commonly heard uses
In relation to time
In place of “because of”:
Due to the hot weather on the weekend we went to the beach.
The parade was cancelled due to the heavy rain.
At other times you may also hear “due” used to describe:
A fee you pay to an organisation you belong to:
She paid her Pony Club dues
A precise navigation instruction:
Head due North and you will reach the waterfall (you have to go exactly North or you might miss the waterfall).
Something that deserves recognition:
His hard work meant that he was due for a salary increase.
To give her her due she was always ready to help with the washing up.
