Story Analysis Exercise

Objective

    • Students will work with a partner to create a professional looking document that will demonstrate their understanding of the elements of a good story as discussed in class.

Steps

    1. Students will select a partner then discuss the merits of a collection of different stories (print / video / animation / etc).

    2. They will compare the various selections and carefully choose the "Story" that both people are quite familiar with.

    3. Using a collaborative tool, like Google Docs, the partners will create a well organized document that analyzes the story with respect to the "Elements of a Good Story"

    4. Students must appropriately format the document and include an appropriate title page. (What can a title page look like?) Hint: make a really good title page so it can recycled throughout the semester with your other projects

    5. Once proofreading is complete and both students are satisfied with the content, they must print and submit the document to the teacher.
