Guide and teach current and future clients and information professionals to ensure the continued growth of the field
Because providing opportunities for students to network with professionals in library and information science roles is critical to the industry's future, I served as student liaison on the board of the Oregon Special Libraries Association chapter. In this role I emceed and helped coordinate an annual student reception which close to 40 students and professionals attended and built their network of contacts. This responsibility taught me how to plan a successful event for people in my industry and gave me courage to deliver rehearsed and off-the-cuff speaking roles in front of a crowd.
