Help for Remy/Ramey researchers in Eastern Kentucky
There has been lots of family information published about this family. My advise to you is to do your own work. There are errors in all published material, but this family is the worst. If you have read something and can't make it fit.......check it out. Below I am going to list two resources which will make your life a whole lot easier. People keep confusing William Remy of Floyd (now Johnson Co KY) and William Ramey of Pike Co KY, who founded Elkhorn City, and much has been written on these families combining the children incorrectly. Here are abstracts of both men's wills, which evidently were not found when the above mentioned Ramey material was published.
Last Will and Testament of William Ramey of Pike Co KY, Pike Co Ky Will Book B, page 50, dated 12 Apr 1864, proved 19 Apr 1866:(This will disposed of some 7512 acres in Pike Co Ky and 2180 acres in Buchanon Co VA, which was sold and split between heirs) To eldest daughter: Mary Potter, To Sons, Moses, Daniel, William, John, Charles, to 3 eldest children by his first wife: Miles, Lloyd, and Riley. To my Fathers youngest and last grandson: Isaac, To daughters: Rebecca Bentley, Ann Bentley, Nancy Belcher, Easter Stewart, and Elizabeth Hunt. Executor appointed: my son Moses.

The Last Will and Testament of William Remy of Floyd Co KY (now Johnson)This will is a drawer at the Floyd Co Ky Courthouse, as it is too big to fit in any book......I don't know where, in 1816, they got a piece of paper that big! This will is dated 28 Apr 1816, and was proved Dec 1816:
IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN; WHEREAS I, WILLIAM REMY, of the County of Floyd, State of Kentucky.......First, I lend to my wife, Eleanor Remy, my plantation for her natural life and at her death I leave it to be divided amongst seven of my children now living in Floyd Co KY, Viz., JOHN REMY, JAMES REMY, WILLIAM REMY, DANIEL REMY, DORCAS JAYNE, CATHERINE WHEELER, JEMIMA AUXIER.
