Langley Castle in Langley, England dates back to the 14th century. The castle sits on a woodland estate nestled in the beautiful Northumbrian valley of the South Tyne river. Langley was originally built by Sir Thomas De Lucy in 1350 during the reign of Edward III. It passed to our ancestor Henry Percy, the 1st Earl of Northumberland, when he married De Lucy's daughter, Maud, in 1368. The castle and surrounding lands remained in the Percy family until after the death of the 9th Earl of Northumberland in 1572, at which point the barony of Langley was forfeited to the crown. Today, Langley Castle has been turned into a hotel and has become a popular place to hold weddings and other events.
