Selva/Wolkenstein in n'ern Italy. Lodging with Famile Demitz at Gasthaus Tramans.
This is my 3rd visit here.
Picked up Ian Frasier (from Scotland) yesterday in Innsbruck, so this is his first day getting acclimated.

Todays hike was a loop around the Sellagruppe, a dramatic uplifting creating several spectacular peaks, with passes in between. Popular rock climbing area.
Our loop is about is 12 miles and takes 5 hours, stopping for pics and suppe at the LangkofeHutte.
- Drive 20 minutes to the Passo SellaJoch at 2244m (7350 ft) to begin the hike.
8:30am: hike clockwise on the Federich-August trail
- pass the Rif Plattkofel Hutte, then the Munneltier Hutte, and around the Rif Vicenze.
- trail hung just below the peaks and scree, ascending and descending as needed.
11:30am:
- at trail jct. ascended 700' to the Langkofel Hutte (2256m) at 11:30am.
- morning walk: the first 7 miles in 2 hrs 45 minutes. Time for lunch.
- Ministrone suppe (full of potatoes and veggies), plus the sandwich we packed along.
- continued around base to Rif Comici Hutte (2153), and back to car at SellajochHaus (parked car).
Total: 5 hrs, 12 miles, ~5,500' +/- (with stops for many pics, and lunch).
