Picasa Album for daily pics --- Seefeld area.
Jim J. recommended beginning in Seefeld (an area he enjoys). I had a memorable first day!
7am - breakfast. They don't take any shortcuts in this gastof. Great selection.
Drive to Seefeld (15 min). 1,230m (4,035')
8:40am TH (trailhead) base of cable car hut -> walk up to Rosshutte (1 hr) -> Seefelder Joch (1/2 hr) -> Seefelder Spitz (20 min) -> Harmelkopf weg up to the Reither Spitz 2373m (7,785').
About 3 hrs from the TH over to the Nordlinger Hutte. Had refreshments with a gentleman from Innsbruck who I met on the Reither Spitz. He's worked 40 years, same job, for the city government. Austrian's generally work 40 year to retire. I like America!
12:30pm Began descent from Nordlinger Hutte -> Reither-Scharte where friend takes cable car across valley. It's too early to go back, so I continued back up to the Schonanger Steig (jct to ReitherSpitz) -> trail across top of valley to RossHutte.
3:30pm Back at TH (car)
Dinner in Seefeld (Gemüse Gröstlund) accompanied with accordion entertainment.
DAILY TOTALS: 8,500' elev +/- over 14 miles.
7 hour day, including pics and rest stops.
(feet are a little tired, but no soreness or unexpected fatigue). The 9-hour time difference will take a few days to get used to, eg. would be hiking in the middle of the night back at home.
