This is a ubiquitous apple in parts of the lower 48, and many people have fond memories of these juicy yellow apples from their childhood days. Like many early ripening apples, Yellow Transparent does not keep long. It is sweet juicy eating for only a short time period. As a result, many people consider Yellow Transparent the ultimate applesauce apple, with large crops quickly turned into applesauce so that they didn't go to waste. While often described as "extremely hardy" by other websites, they are not Fairbanks hardy. This grows in warmer parts of the state that are zones 3-5, like Anchorage, but it aint got what it takes to make it in Fairbanks, which is real zone 1/2.
