The best way to get there is to go by train coming from the Retiro station in front of the hotel Sheraton Retiro. The train takes about 20 minutes and leaves you at the doorstep of the course. In the station ticket office ask for the platform for San Andrés and trains that leaves every 10 to 15 minutes.

I recommend going by train, then by taxi, if you get caught jam is almost an hour dispite of the price of the taxi, because the train I think it costs arround 2 pesos.

The field is great, have correspondence with the Moraleja Golf Club in Madrid. If you are not invited by a member it will cost you 60 pesos Monday through Friday and 80 pesos on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

It is best to call from the hotel to make sure there aren´t some tournament or other event.

The San Andrés Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Argentina, because although the name and current location is since 1907, it is a continuation of the first golf club established in the country in 1892. The first organized game of golf in Argentina took place in San Martin on May 13, 1894. The official founding date of San Andres Golf Club is 31 March 1907. It was, then, predecessor and founding member of the Asociación Argentina de Golf, founded in 1926.

The Club takes his named from St. Andrew's in Scotland, home of the oldest and most traditional of world golf: The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrew's. This was not coincidental. After a while the town took the name of the Club and the railway station originally created for its users.

The story resembles that of many institutions of that time. Along the railroad, carrier advancement and communications, sports came from the hand of British officials who ran the companies. So they approached the Club for families on the train, when to go to San Andres and ask the guard to stop in the golf season was an adventure.

At first it was a reference to the British community in the country. Then there were the children of these pioneers Argentines who maintained the traditions of that community. Today is a distinctly Argentine Club, where he held the most honorable traditions of golf, the only sport that is practiced.

The Club has a limited number of partners, so you can almost always be playing without reservation. Geographically has the advantage of being perhaps one of the faster access from downtown Buenos Aires, arriving at no more than twenty or thirty minutes on Saturdays and Sundays.

The head office and the golf course are located on the street Dr. Aleu 500, San Andrés. The site covers a total area of 46 hectares of which over 95% went to the golf course.

The Club House maintains the building characteristics of the 1900 British. The halls and changing rooms offer the warmth of the wood of the old Tudor-style buildings. There are the changing rooms, the Office of the Secretariat, the Dining Room, Living Room, the Bar of the Knights, the reserved area for children and a small meeting room for the Board.

There is also a swimming pool, used mainly by children of the members while they practice their sport, and enclosure are playgrounds and a recreation area for children.

Near the first tee of the hole one is the Putting Green, Driving Range and Clubs house, which has annexed the Pro Shop.

The course has 18 holes, was designed by Scottish professional Mungo Park. It is par 72 for men and par 73 for ladies. It is considered among the most renowned for its tradition and difficulty. With its length of 6472 yards maximum, has a rough that is frightening for even the most skilled players.

Many of the most important pages in the history of golf went through this couse. The Club was 21 times, the one most often received the Republic's of Argentina Open. And the maestro Roberto De Vicenzo won the Open in two editions in San Andrés. De Vicenzo is even an honorary member of the Club. Also, the National Amateur Championship, the tournament's oldest golfing calendar Argentina, was conducted in 29 chances in this Club. Argentinos Interclub Championships could well be part of this review, as well as having hosted many times, this Club won the championship in 14 editions.
