Need to get headers that fit the 3V and exit properly.
One member used Sanderson Headers and had the modified. To do the modification you send them the proper header gasket and they will modify the flanges to match. Below are the costs they quoted.
$370 - headers
$170 - coating
$150 - modification
Another member EEPod just used standard 2V headers and then a 2V -> 3V adapter from Late Model Restoration. The cost is probably similar and they could cause tighter clearance.
$189.99 - adapters
Update thread on headers.
I purchased the ffr headers. They required modification to fit the 3v but not too bad.
Here are the FFR and DynoMax VT muffler dimensions are:
FFR:
Body is 13.5" x 8" X 4"
Total length with inlet & outlet is 19"
Inlet: Diameter is 2.5" (center)
Outlet: Diameter is 2.5" (offset)
DynoMax VT (PN: 17155 2.25 or 17156 2.5)
Body is 14" x 9.75" X 4.5"
Total length with inlet & outlet is 19"
Inlet: Diameter is 2.5" (center)
Outlet: Diameter is 2.5" (offset)
It looks like there is room to swap in the DynoMax VT (PN: 17956) with no other modification. A pair of DynoMax VT (PN: 17956) run about $180.
