Free of cost
From 2024-25 session, resource books, textbooks, journals and stationery to be used in school are given free of cost to all students.
Stationery Policy
Since 2009, School has been promoting conservation of stationery with a few objectives.
Saving Mother Earth from the burden of unnecessary materials.
Preventing cutting of trees to make paper.
Saving the purse of parents.
Teaching children to conserve, reduce and reuse.
Teaching children to respect, conserve and preserve materials at home, school and in public places.
Teaching children to share and develop collective responsibility in conserving materials.
How does it work:
Until 2023, parents paid about 450/- per annum.
The entire stationery like pencils, erasers, sharpeners, A4 sheets, project kit, charts, colour papers etc., required for an year to be used in school were carefully estimated within this amount.
From 2024-25 session, stationery to be used in school is given free of cost to the children.
School kit remains in school.
Children are not to bring or use any other material.
Role of Parents:
To enhance the value of this policy and ensure that culture of conservation extends for everything at home and in public places.
Resource Books developed by the School
Silver Oaks is a 22 year old institution. In all these years, extensive research on curriculum design, delivery and effectiveness have been focussed upon.
A core team of 30 to 40 members work extensively on developing and designing curriculum and strategies for teaching. This team has developed books from Pre Primary to Grade 9.
The team's knowledge and exposure comes from:
Training from IBO, Project Zero of Harvard University, CBSE, Vikram Sarabhai Science Foundation, IIMA etc.,
Studying Curricula from Singapore, Finland, Australia and USA.
Learning from Academic papers published across the world.
Two year Band for Books
Science, Math and Social books for Grades 1 to 8 are developed within the school.
Hindi and Telugu Model books are also developed within the school for developing writing skills through contemporary language approach.
These books have a 2 year band. This means one book is used for 2 consecutive academic years.
They are vertically aligned and designed backwards too.
This 2 year band ensures deep dive into the concepts.
Note to Parents: School assumes complete responsibility for effective learning of year level goals and much more. Therefore, comparisons with other books or buying reference books can be avoided.
