As the John Paul II Academy School Counselor, I WILL:

1. Promote a positive school climate by working with ALL STUDENTS to encourage a culture of respect and trust.

2. COLLABORATE with parents/guardians, teachers, administration, support staff and students, and community resources.

3. Deliver CLASSROOM LESSONS that align to the ASCA standards.

4. FACILITATE small groups focusing on topics such as friendship, grief/loss, anger management, study skills, family changes, and self-esteem.

5. Meet with students INDIVIDUALLY to engage in brief, solution-focused counseling.

6. Work with struggling students to make POSITIVE BEHAVIOR CHOICES.

7. Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY, unless you report someone is hurting you, you hurt yourself, or you hurt someone else.

8. Provide EDUCATION AND INFORMATION about ALL STUDENTS' social-emotional, academic, and career exploration/planning needs.
