Third Grade 2021-2022

Third grade students had their introduction to building stories with code during the spring of their third grade year. They were familiar with the problem solving, planning, logical thinking, perspective taking, and perseverance from their previous experience coding using Code.org's course C and were ready to create their own stories from a blank project. We used Tynker, a block coding platform similar to Scratch and the kids took to it right away, using their curiosity and inquisitiveness to explore the blocks and build their stories. Many students went beyond the one actor stories to include several actors and others explored using the "wait" , "move", and "glide" blocks too. Students were even building stories during their creative writing and free iPad times.
