End of Year Projects aka Laurels

In the spring of fifth grade year, the students earn their laurels by completing several end-of-year projects. In technology, this means taking the ancient civilizations and sharing their learning using a digital storytelling tool. This year the students had a choice of tools: Google Slides, Animoto, My SimpleShow and Tynker. The decision to give them a choice was made so that the students would feel like they had ownership over their project and therefore would select something they felt they could use well and would be more engaged in doing their best work.
