Summer Reading Book Tynkers

Our fifth grade students had an opportunity to dive back in to Tynker for their first digital storytelling project of the year. They coded a two-scene story summary about their summer reading book or another book they've recently enjoyed. They ended their fourth grade year with a two-scene coding story and started this year the same way as they refreshed their memory on adding/uploading actors and/or backgrounds, using hide/show, using the wait block to enable conversations between characters, and having the backgrounds switch for the next scene. Building code helps students break things down into its component parts to move through them one step at a time, helps them problem-solve, be creative, tell stories in different ways, and use logical thinking.
