The Torsion Lab was originally a 'Validation' style lab, where students tested 3 samples (steel, aluminium, brass), plotted a graph, and then discussed the results.....

Mystery Filter!

By simply covering each sample in heat-shrink plastic, and asking students which material is which - it turned the lab into a mystery to solve!

Students found the task much clearer and more engaging, with session feedback scores going from 4.1 to 4.8.... and that's with no changes made to the technical content!
