During Exam Period, you should advise staff in the Support Office immediately if you are unable to attend an exam. If you are ill during an exam, or if illness causes you to miss an exam, you should consult the University Health Service, or see your home GP. During the Exam Period, certification by a doctor is required for all periods of sickness.
If you are ill during an exam you should report immediately to the invigilator. The invigilator will write a report about your circumstances which will be considered in the Exam Board.
If you are unavoidably absent from a single lecture, class, or other timetabled activity for a good reason you should initially apologise for your absence to the member of staff concerned. If you are absent for more than one session you should notify us by email or Extenuating Circumstances form, with evidence if necessary.

Attendance at labs is compulsory and will not be rearranged. Extenuating circumstances may be considered.

Exams will be scheduled throughout the University's exam periods. Do not book holidays during this time.
Exams may be scheduled at any time during the Exam Period. It is not recommended that you book a holiday during this period. Exams will not be rearranged. A booked holiday will not be accepted as Extenuating Circumstances for missing an exam.

If you are unable to get in touch with your Personal Tutor, please contact eee-support@sheffield.ac.uk and this will be looked into for you.
It is not possible to appeal academic judgement. However, if you feel that you have been unfairly treated, you can follow the University's Complaints and Appeals procedure. You should be able to demonstrate that there has been a procedural error or that there is new evidence concerning extenuating circumstances that was not made available to the examiners.
If you suffer a bereavement and you feel that is has impacted your studies, you should submit an Extenuating Circumstances form.

If you are struggling academically, you should speak to your Personal Tutor or Year Tutor for their advice and support. If you are having personal problems, you should speak to your Personal Tutor, Year Tutor or the Student Support Office.
If you are considering leaving your course, you should speak to your Personal Tutor or Year Tutor for their advice and support. You can also discuss this with the Student Support Office.
The University Health Service (UHS) provide an effective service which is available for all students.
If you think you have a disability (including dyslexia) which may affect your studies, you should get in touch with the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service (DDSS) who can assess your need for support and help you to arrange any special requirements you may have for exams or day to day study.
If you think your medical problems are having an effect on your studies you should talk to your Personal Tutor and consider completing an Extenuating Circumstances (EC) form. You can also email eee-support@sheffield.ac.uk, who can offer advice and support.
