Grievance Policy
An Induction Candidate (IC) and Mentor are expected to meet all requirements outlined in the signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU). In the event that MOU requirements are not met and the IC or Mentor disagrees with this finding, the IC and Mentor may file a grievance.
Grievance Procedures:
It is the responsibility of the IC or Mentor to inform the program of the specific grievance verbally. IC or Mentor will meet with the program director informally to discuss the situation and reach a resolution.
If resolution is not satisfactory, an IC or Mentor may formally submit a written grievance.
Upon receipt of the grievance, the program director secures confidential information from both the IC and Mentor. Efforts will be made to maintain respect and dignity for all those involved and to collaboratively determine a solution to the presented issue(s). The IC or Mentor who files a grievance may present evidence and documentation that would support MOU requirement completion.
The program director shares the information with the district’s leadership team representative and together they make the determination for a possible solution.
All grievances will be handled in a timely manner and solutions will be documented in writing within 30 days of written submission.
Integrated and Designated ELD Video Series
The California Department of Education developed a series of videos demonstrating integrated ELD instruction and its related designated ELD instruction during ELA, mathematics, and science. The Integrated and Designated ELD Video Series demonstrates the relationship between the California English Language Development Standards (CA ELD Standards) and the state content standards. When used in tandem, English learner students build English proficiency, refine academic use of English, and access subject area content in transitional kindergarten/kindergarten through grade twelve. The video series is linked here.
