Principal and Deputy Principal's Welcome
As we welcome the arrival of spring, the longer days and brighter mornings bring with them a renewed sense of optimism across our community. This spirit of ambition has been perfectly captured by our U19 boys’ gymnastics team, who truly had a spring in their step as they rose to the top and were crowned National Champions. Their achievement reflects not only exceptional talent, but also the values of respect, resilience and responsibility; qualities we are proud to nurture in all of our students. A particular thank you goes to our PE department for their dedication and commitment in supporting our students, with another exceptional year of sporting success to be celebrated at our annual Sports Awards Evening on Wednesday 17th June.
As we move into Module 5 and the start of the public examination period, these same values are more important than ever. We are incredibly proud of the focus, determination and maturity shown by our Year 11 and Sixth Form students. For our Year 13 students in particular, this marks the culmination of a seven-year journey at SGLA. Across GCSE and IB Higher Level subjects, the quality of teaching and the precision of preparation have been exceptional. Staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that every lesson, every intervention and every revision opportunity has been sharply focused on preparing students for their most important exams to date.
As a community, we remain firmly committed to working in partnership with families, parents and carers. This shared responsibility is key to ensuring that every student is supported to achieve their very best. We are confident that our students are well prepared for the challenges ahead and are well placed to move on to their chosen destinations, whether that be university, apprenticeships, or continued study at Attenborough College for Post 16.
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to enjoy our Spring Newsletter, which showcases the wide range of academic and extra-curricular successes across the academy. These experiences, made possible through the goodwill and commitment of our staff, play a vital role in fostering engagement, confidence and success in school life.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to working closely with you as we support our young people to achieve their individual success.
