Today, Friday, March 27th, the streets of Dartford look a little brighter—and it’s all thanks to our dedicated Student Voice representatives. Swapping their notebooks for litter grabbers, our student leaders joined forces with the local community for the Great Dartford Litterpick.
While many were settling into their Friday morning routines, this team was out in full force, proving that leadership isn't just about making speeches—it's about making a difference.
The initiative wasn't just about tidying the pavement; it was a powerful statement on environmental stewardship and civic duty. Our representatives focused on several key areas around the academy and local parks, collecting dozens of bags of recyclable materials and general waste.
Why this matters:
Community Pride: Showing that the younger generation cares deeply about the local environment.
Actionable Leadership: Moving beyond the classroom to tackle real-world issues.
Sustainability: Ensuring our local green spaces remain safe and clean for everyone to enjoy.
"It’s easy to talk about the environment in a meeting, but getting out here and actually filling these bags makes it real. We want Dartford to be a place we can all be proud of."
— Year 9 Student Voice Rep
The Great Dartford Litterpick isn't just a one-off event—it is a major milestone in our journey toward earning the Green Flag Accreditation.
This internationally recognized award honors schools that go above and beyond in their commitment to the environment. By participating today, our Student Voice representatives have completed a core component of the "Litter" and "School Grounds" action plans required for the award.
A huge thank you to all the students who participated and the local council for providing the equipment. You’ve shown that when Dartford’s youth speaks up (and rolls up their sleeves), the whole community wins.
