AWARE stands for Advancing Well-being through Advocacy, Resources, and Education
AWARE Substance Use Assessments are available for all students who need or want to look more closely at their alcohol or other drug use. The assessment takes place in person with the Seton Hill Prevention Specialist, a licensed therapist, who utilizes evidence-based practices. These services, are strictly confidential allowing you to take a look at your use without judgement or fear that others will know.
Some students are requested to attend an AWARE assessment when referred by Seton Hill conduct officers after a violation of the AOD (alcohol and other drug) Policy. When students are referred by the Conduct office, confidentiality is maintained. The student is asked to sign a release of information form which allows the Prevention Specialist to communicate their attendance and follow-up recommendations to Conduct. After the assessment,1-2 follow-up AWARE meetings may be recommended. In addition, the Prevention Specialist will make a recommendation if a student requires referral for additional assessment and treatment.
AWARE Assessments can be scheduled using the Wellness Portal at wellness.setonhill.edu. Contact slowry@setonhill.edu if you have questions about drug and alcohol resources or if you need support.
