Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

The Be There Certificate is a free, digital, self-paced learning experience designed to increase mental health literacy and provide youth with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to safely support anyone who may be struggling with their mental health. It provides video examples of how to hold these challenging talks with a friend.
The 50-minute at your own pace training focuses on fostering student mental health and well-being at Seton Hill. As members of our campus community, faculty and staff play a critical role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.
This training is designed to:
Increase awareness of common mental health concerns among college students
Strengthen confidence in recognizing signs of student distress
Provide guidance on how to respond supportively and appropriately
Clarify referral pathways and campus-specific resources available to students
The training includes two modules:
General Mental Health Support Training (United Educators)– covering foundational knowledge and best practices for supporting college student mental health.
Seton Hill Specific Resource Module – customized to highlight specifics about our students as well as support services and referral options so that you know exactly where and how to connect students with help
For SHU faculty & staff: Email support@setonhill.edu if you need a Canvas account.
