Workshops and group therapy are excellent ways to:
connect with others who are going through similar experiences
realize that we are not alone and our experiences are quite normal
learn new ways to manage challenging thoughts and feelings
try on new ways of interacting in a safe environment
change the way we respond to life's situations
Decades of research shows that group therapy is as effective as individual therapy to support a variety of concerns--sometimes even better for concerns like social anxiety. Like individual therapy, group therapy is also confidential. Group members agree to maintain each other's confidentiality and are motivated to do so to maintain their own. Any student who is currently enrolled in classes at Seton Hill is eligible for this semester's groups. All workshops & groups are currently in-person only and are open to students of all identities, but are not meant for observational experiences (i.e. for a class).
Educational presentations focused on providing knowledge and skills (not therapy).

Seton Hill Counseling Services is offering ongoing grief support groups for students navigating the death of a loved person. Group begins Thursday January 29th and meets every other Thursday (excluding academic breaks). Grief group is facilitated by Therapist Rachael Graham, LCSW and IUP Counseling Intern Em Withers. Students struggling with loss are encouraged to attend this safe and supportive space where they can relate and connect with other grieving students and redefine themselves after loss. Group consists of structured discussion as well as reflective and memorial activities that encourage healing and connection as participants navigate life after loss. Sometimes our anxiety can use our spirituality and faith against us; forcing us to lament over questions like "Am I a good person?" or "Am I good enough for God?"
This group will be an interfaith processing group where students can learn to differentiate between what are our beliefs and values, and what are our irrational and anxious thoughts.
When/Where: Thursdays 3-4pm (Contact Adam Korte for location)
