As a result of participating in this Discovery Week course students will:

This is a 6 or 7 day visit to London England where students will interweave a variety of theatrical experiences including the Globe Theater, West End Musicals, the National Theatre and Fringe Theatre with an exploration of London’s well-known historical sites and new attractions (Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, the London Eye & Harry Potter Studio Tour). Specific theatre and performance choices will be determined in consultation with students–based on availability & Mrs. Moon’s approval. We have secured tickets to one show already: Hamilton!!!

Focus of course - DW London Theatre course will provide the students with a diverse historical, cultural and artistic experience as they explore the theatre of London, as well as various historical sites around London. Students will reflect on dramatic elements of theatre as well as its connection to British history and culture. During the students’ week-long sojourn in Jolly ‘Ole’ England, they will reflect and discuss elements of Theatre Appreciation from the viewpoint of an avid audience member and/or a budding theatre.


Course Description/Itinerary:

  • Day 1: Travel Day (this year - Sun. Oct 28th).
  • Day 2: Windsor Castle, Harry Potter Studio Tour, London City Tour.
  • Day 3: London Eye, Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, British Music Exp., EVE SHOWS.
  • Day 4: St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace/Changing of the Guard, Covent Garden, Opera House Tour; MAT & EVE SHOWS.
  • Day 5: Tower of London, Trafalgar Square-Shopping, National Gallery MAT & EVE SHOWS.
  • Day 6: Cardboard Citizen workshop, MAT & EVE SHOWS & Covent Gardens (Shopping).
  • Day 7: Westminster Abbey, Picadilly Circus (Shopping), Notting Hill Market, MAT & EVE SHOWS, Depart London in evening.
  • Day 8: Overnight flight, Travel Day (this year - arrival in Seoul in the evening of Sun. Nov. 4th).


Requirements/Considerations:

In order to participate in this course, students must:

  • Participants are responsible for obtaining a UK Visa (must be eligible to obtain UK Visa).
  • Participants should have an interest in theatre or a desire to develop an interest in the theatre.
  • Participants should be prepared to walk on a daily basis throughout the week.
  • Be open to learning about different types of Theatre.
  • Be willing to learn about Theatre Appreciation.
  • Be flexible.
  • Sunday to Sunday
