SCENTS OF SERVICE

As a result of participating in this Discovery Week course students will:

  • Learn how to make natural soaps and air freshener.
  • Learn how to make rice cake or bread.
  • Appreciate and understand people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and life circumstances.


Course Description/Itinerary:

This course is designed for Service and Skill development. We will learn how to make natural soaps, air fresheners, and rice cakes (or bread). Since we use good quality essential oils and natural herb powder, all our products will be good especially for old people who have dry skin and young children who have sensitive skin. Most of the products made during the week will be donated to the two orphanages, Ethel Village and Angel’s Heaven and the Seodaemun Senior Welfare Center. Students can keep some of their own products of course.

  • Day 1: Making Soaps.
  • Day 2: Making soaps and air fresheners.
  • Day 3: Visiting orphanage, Ethel Village. Running soap making class with young children. We will depart school at 1:40 to orphanage and we will be back to school around 6:30 -7:00 pm.
  • Day 4: Making rice cake or bread. Visiting orphanage, Angel’s Heaven.
  • Day 5: Visiting Seodaemun Senior Welfare Center.


Requirements/Considerations:

  • This course is a very intensive course. Participant’s a lot of work and dedication will be required.


Approximate Cost: $250 - $500
