IXL helps students gain fluency and confidence in math! IXL helps students master essential skills at their own pace through fun and interactive questions, built in support, and motivating awards.
SDUHSD students use the Clever single sign-on to access IXL.
Students will start on my.sduhsd.net.
Select the Clever tile on the left side menu
Click "sign in with Google"
Sign in the same way they do for their district email
Select the IXL tile.
Above the problem, you will see "Learn with an example". This will give you a worked out example with an explanation.
Many skills in IXL also have a video explaining how to do similar problems.
If you feel that you are not quite ready to practice a skill, you will find links to prerequisite skills. These skills will help prepare you to come back to the original skill after some additional practice. Sometimes there will also be a "Lesson" available in the "Work it out" section below the problem you are working on.
If you answer a question and do not get it correct, be sure to scroll down to see an explanation of how to correctly solve the problem before moving on to the next questions.
The LevelUp Benchmark and Flex Diagnostic work in the same way. Students in grades 7 and 8 use the LevelUp Diagnostic while high school students use the Flex Diagnostic.
Enter the "Assessment Arena" to determine your current levels. The initial diagnostic can be completed in multiple sessions and takes about 45 minutes.
Use the suggestions in the arena to build your skills in each domain.
Return to the arena each week to keep your levels up-to-date or "pinpointed".
The Recommendations wall is a way to find personalized recommendations based on the LevelUp and Flex Diagnostic as well as your practice in IXL.
You can support your student by encouraging them to work in the program regularly, monitoring their progress using the Analytics tab, and celebrating their growth.
For even more learning opportunities, encourage your child to choose skills from their Recommendations Wall, filled with skills selected just for them based on what they’ve been working on.
If your child needs a refresher on the concept before they start a skill, click on “Learn with an example” at the top of the page!
Visit the Analytics tab in the student IXL account and try visiting a couple of our favorite reports:
Trouble Spots: See where your child is getting stuck so that you can step in and provide support.
Usage: Get a highlight reel of what your child has been doing on IXL, and review the progress they’ve made.
