Hi everyone,
We are now in Week 15 with just three weeks left, and we’re excited to have you join us again in our program.
We also want to let you know that if the class you want is full, you can register for any available class. Once the semester begins, you can simply join your preferred Zoom class. This option makes registration easier and avoids the extra step of joining a waitlist or requesting a permission number, which will not be available until January 22, 2026.
This Week: What Skin, Nails & Nutrition Reveal About Brain and Body Health
This week’s lesson explores how the skin and nails are more than just outer coverings—they are living, responsive tissues that often reveal what’s happening inside the body long before noticeable symptoms arise. As we age, natural changes in collagen, circulation, hydration, hormones, and immune function influence the appearance of our skin and the way our nails grow. These visible shifts can serve as early indicators of internal changes in brain function, metabolic health, inflammation, and nutritional status.
In this lesson, we’ll examine how the skin and nails communicate essential information about aging and how factors such as hydration, stress, sun exposure, and nutrition shape both their appearance and long-term health.
Last Week: Traveling & the Brain – How Exploring New Places Impacts Our Minds
Last week we discussed how travel both physical and virtual stimulates the brain, boosts mood, and strengthens social connections, making it a powerful tool for healthy aging. For people with dementia, travel can reduce isolation, ease anxiety, trigger positive memories, and support cognitive function. Virtual travel offers accessible, low-stress alternatives when physical travel isn’t possible. By adapting experiences to individual abilities, maintaining familiar routines, and planning carefully, travel becomes a safe and meaningful way to promote joy, engagement, and lifelong learning at any stage of cognitive health.
