Last Week: Brain Myths – What’s Fact and What’s Fiction
Last week, we explored 10 common myths about the brain—and what science actually tells us. Here are a few key takeaways:
🧠 We don’t just use 10% of our brain—nearly all regions are active daily.
🧠 People aren’t simply “left-brained” or “right-brained”—both sides work together.
🧠 Memory isn’t like a video camera—it’s flexible and can change over time.
🧠 Brain damage isn’t always permanent—the brain can adapt and heal.
🧠 Intelligence can grow with effort, learning, and experience.
Understanding these myths helps us make smarter choices and stay open to learning, no matter our age.
Let’s keep our brains active and growing
Please take a moment to complete this short, 6-question quiz by clicking the link below. It’s a simple way to reinforce your learning and memory of what we covered last week.

This week: Latest Advances in Brain Research
This week, we begin exploring an exciting and empowering topic—the science of brain health. We’re living in a remarkable time when research is no longer just theoretical—real breakthroughs are happening that offer practical strategies for keeping our brains strong and sharp as we age. From lifestyle changes that boost cognition, to new diagnostic tools and FDA-approved treatments for early Alzheimer’s, science is giving us clearer guidance than ever before. Most importantly, studies now confirm that everyday habits—like staying socially engaged, eating well, moving more, and challenging our minds—can make a real difference in brain fitness. In this lesson, we’ll look at what the latest research tells us and how we can apply it in our daily lives. No miracle cures—just simple, consistent actions that support brain health and overall well-being.
