Poetry Unit: Tongue Twister Poem Editing and Publishing
Re-read the Tongue Twister poems you wrote earlier this week and decide which one(s) you would like to edit and publish
When you have chose, ask your parent to read your poem and help you to edit any spelling mistakes
Find a new piece of paper and re-write your poem in 'good copy' form. Make it colorful and think about adding things such as pictures, a border, big letters, writing with felt or a pen, and any other creative ideas you can think of to make your published poem look great!
I have included a copy of my published poem below for you to look at
Math Activity - 20 minutes
Complete the 2 math sheets below
Science Activity - 30 minutes
Science Experiment: Water Xylophone (using water jars)
Materials: 3 small jars OR glass bottles, water, food colouring, mallet
Fill the jars with water using these specifications: Jar 1 has 1/4 of the jar filled, Jar 2 is half filled and Jar 3 is 3/4 filled
Put a few drops of food colouring in each jar to make them coloured
Use the mallet and firmly tap the outside of each jar. What do you hear? Are the sounds different? Which jar has the highest pitch? Why do you think this is? Does it change the sound if you tap the jar lightly?
Watch the video below where Dr. Gia and I make our own xylophone piano
Try playing this song by tapping your jars in this order: 1 2 3 2 111 222 111 1 2 3 2 111 1 22 1 2 3
