  • Re-read the two Acrostic poems you wrote earlier this week and decide which one you would like to edit and publish

  • When you have chose, ask your parent to read your poem and help you to edit any spelling mistakes

  • Find a new piece of paper and re-write your poem in 'good copy' form. Make it colorful and think about adding things such as pictures, a border, big letters, writing with felt or a pen, and any other creative ideas you can think of to make your published poem look great!

Math Activity - 20 minutes

Complete the 2 math sheets below

Science Activity - 20 minutes

Science Experiment: Making Cup Phones (video below to watch)

Materials: 2 plastic or paper cups, 15 meter long piece of string, scissors or a nail

  • Construct your cup phones by poking a small hole in the bottom of each cup with your scissors or a nail

  • Thread one end of the string through the hole and tie a knot large enough that your string does not pull through it

  • Put the other end of the string through the hole in the other cup and tie a knot

  • Have another person take one cup and move far enough away from you that the string is tight but is not touching anything

  • Talk into the cup and then ask the other person what you said. Take turns seeing if you can hear what the other person said.

When done: Answer these questions with your parents:

How does the sound travel from one cup to another? What did you learn? Do you think it would work if the string was twice as long?
