Writing Activity - 20 minutes

Day 2 - 'Connecting to Me' Story Strip

  • Using your planning page from yesterday write a story strip with your ideas (Story Strip PDF file is below)

  • Each box should represent one bubble of your planning page

  • I have included an example for you to look at (PDF file below)

  • Challenge yourself to write 2 sentences in some of the boxes!

Math Activity - 20 minutes

Bar Graph: Fridge Food Groups (PDF graph to print is below)

  • Fill in the bar graph below by looking at food in your fridge

  • Label your graph with the headings:

    • Title: Fridge Food Groups

    • Bottom Axis: Fruit, Vegetable, Dairy, Grain, Meat

    • Side Axis: number from 0 to 8

  • Classify your food into one of the five food groups and colour in one box for each item

  • I have included an example for you to look at below

(Ex: multiple apples just counts as one box in the graph)

  • When finished: talk about the graph with your parent. What food group do you have the most of? Do you have many grains in your fridge? Have you labelled all the parts of your graph?

Daily Calendar - 5 minutes

  • Review today's date: Tuesday, April 28th

  • Briefly talk about the weather today and what it is like outside

  • Count the days of school: today is day 139

    • Count: 100, 110, 120, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139

  • Today's secret number clues:

    • I am between 80 and 90

    • I am greater than 83

    • I am the next number in this pattern: 96, 93, 90, _____

    • What am I?

Word Work Activity - 20 minutes

Making Words

*Click on the top right of the document to the left and it should open as a google doc to print. If you are unable to print, write the words on a piece of paper or spell them aloud.

  • Use the template provided here and cut out each letter

  • Read each word in order and have your child use their letters to spell the word and write each one on the sheet provided

  • Words: remember 'ea' makes a long e sound (when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking)
